Caring Places: Building Healthy Communities Conference

Event Date: Tuesday 20th April 2021

In the ‘Ten Conversations and hundreds of natters’ we had arranged for 21 April 2020, we planned in particular to explore how public service organisations and the people they serve can co-create caring places and healthy communities.

We were fortunate enough to attract many of the finest practitioners working for that goal in their own ways and were on track to bring them together to compare notes with more than 200 others.

Sadly, like so many events, COVID-19 meant this wasn’t meant to be. However, as well as our series of webinars we now plan for our Caring Places – Building Healthy Communities event in April 2021. We hope it will be a celebration of how much we have all learnt during COVID19 and how we are making it a springboard for the radical change in health and social care we so badly need.

Now that’s a conversation worth having!

Webinar: What’s love got to do with it?

Event Date: Wednesday 20th May 2020

For the second in our Caring Places webinar series we bring together three true change leaders.

Donna Hall, who led the Wigan Deal as CEO there, is now chair of the New Local Government Network and leading the campaign for more local and community involvement in the public health response to Covid-19.

Kathy Evans, CEO of Children England, never lets a day go by without challenging neglect of children’s rights and interests, and is leading a ChildFairState inquiry in which young leaders are supported to reimagine the welfare state.

Maff Potts, having worked at senior levels in housing and other public services, concluded that what we all need above all in our lives is purpose and friendship. So he set up Camerados and, during the covid crisis, #Spoonroom.

If you wonder what love has to do with any of that, come and join the conversation. You’ll find they have plenty to say about it!

Webinar: Covid-19: What Buurtzorg is learning and what we can learn from Buurtzorg

Event Date: Thursday 7th May 2020

A special one-off conversation between Jos de Blok founder of Buurtzorg and our very own Brendan Martin, founder of Public World/Buurtzorg Britain and Ireland.

We will be looking at the incredible work of Buurtzorg during a pandemic, what lessons they have learned and considering what others looking to work in the same way can learn from Buurtzorg.
